Gujarat: Rising to number 1 in Crime?

This is not what Gujarat is meant to be, this is not what Gujarat was envisioned to be!
Every street of once-a-heaven Gujarat is now a crime news-source. There has been a staggering rise in cases of theft, burglary, murder, rape and kidnapping in last few years. The NCRB data reflect the same.

While police and security agencies are busy satisfying one person's political and personal ambitions, the people of Gujarat have to suffer...

- While in 2011, thefts worth Rs. 350 crore were reported, in 2012 this number sore to Rs. 1,504 crore. Recovery ratio is embarrassingly low: only 5%! Leave aside the people, even God's are not safe!

- 56,941 children were reported missing between 2007-2012. Out of these, 5812 children are still untraced. Even in his own constituency Maninagar, the CM has not been able to do anything about the kidnapping of two children from the municipal schools they went to!

- There has been 73% increase in rape cases and 119% increase in abduction cases. 75% murder accused, 93% accused of attempting murder and 85% rape accused have not been convicted due to poor investigation.

- Even political murders cannot be ignored! There have been 4 murders of RTI activists (maximum in any state) who were "the whistleblowers". Not one of the cases have been brought to an end.

- Recent cases of theft and murder have shocked the city like Ahmedabad! How did the robbers gather so much courage to kill and loot a trader in broad daylight? Where was the police?
These incidents bring the real face of Gujarat out and should be followed by the media. An incident in places like Delhi and everyone gets busy accusing the Centre, so why no immediate action on cases in Gujarat?
